Mumbai: K Sera Sera and Vikram Bhatt have opened India’s first virtual production studio, spread over an area of 50,000 sq ft, located on Dahisar Highway in Mumbai. It has four floors, where four films can be easily shot at a time.
Regarding the project, Vikram Bhatt said, “The film Juda Hoke was also a test of virtual production technology ie LED for us. We were able to shoot the entire film on a 60 by 60 floor. The biggest win for us is that the film released last week and was watched by millions across the world.
“We are happy to announce that our visual technology scenes were appreciated and applauded by the audience. We consider it our victory, because what we made touched the hearts of the audience. We passed this test.
Elaborating on the advantages of the technology, Bhatt said that the scenes created with the help of virtual film technology are more spectacular and impactful. Now Bollywood filmmakers can become global by joining us and regional filmmakers will be able to make it big at the national level. We give more visualization with less investment. That is, if you invest Rs 5 crore in a project, then our studio virtual world will make it like a project of Rs 30 crore.
Speaking about the global vision of the project, Satish Panchariya, owner of K Sera Sera said, “With the virtual production technology, we have decided to cater not only to Indian cinema, but to world cinema as well. So we are not targeting only 6,000 or 7,000 cinema screens in India. We are targeting 1.5 lakh screens worldwide and 150 OTT/satellite platforms operating globally. We are keen to make our films in English, Hindi and even Spanish so that we can reach audiences across the globe.
He further added, “Now that our films will not look shoddy, the makers will not feel that they need more budget as the technology of virtual production will help us to deliver stunning pictures which we have always wanted.”
Panchariya said, due to this technology, filmmakers will no longer have to keep a huge budget. It will easily save 40-50 per cent of the budget. This facility is a golden opportunity for those who want to make their project like a big film, but they do not have the budget for it.
Panchariya said, a regional film, which is being shot in Punjab and some of its scenes are to be shot in Australia, for this it is not necessary that the team of the film will have to go to Australia, the makers have made that scene under their budget. With the help of technology, we can shoot in Mumbai.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said, “You can easily shoot the same scenes that you have seen in big films till now for your project. That’s why we invite everyone to this technology. We want everyone to take its service. We want to tell the world that they can contact us to make their films the way they always want to.
Mahesh Bhatt said, “We are inviting not only Hindi film makers, but we are also inviting small producers, big producers, regional filmmakers to be a part of this technology and strengthen this industry.
Pancharia said, with this technology, we can show our strength to our Indian film industry. Through this latest technology, we can stand in front of the world as Viraat Swaroop and say that finally, we are here, standing shoulder to shoulder with world cinema.
