Actually, the director of Liger, Puri Jagannath himself has mentioned this in an interview. He told in an interaction with the media in Mumbai, I am a big fan of Sridevi, so I wanted to take Jhanvi Kapoor for this film. But Jhanvi Kapoor was not free then. He further told that for this I went to Karan. He narrated the script of the film to him, after hearing the story, he suggested the name of Ananya Pandey for the film.

Jagannath further said, I am a big fan of Karan Johar. I adore Karan a lot. After Karan’s suggestion, I also showed Vijay after this, Vijay said we should work on it. Under this we have come to Mumbai and started working since then.
