Mumbai: The success of Pushpa: The Rise, RRR and KGF: Chapter 2 has given rise to a debate about what it means for pan-India cinema and the Hindi film industry.

Filmmaker Jay Shevkarmani, known for Jawaani Jaaneman starring Saif Ali Khan, opened up about the gap between the numbers of South and Hindi cinema, saying, “I think we have yet to do big-ticket films this year. We have Brahmastra, Laal Singh Chaddha and Vikram Vedha to name a few that are in the pipeline this year. I’m sure they will do a lot of work. The only difference is that now we are accepting dubbed cinema in large numbers.

Jai largely increased the consumption of content where Hindi cinema is lacking.

He said, “South cinema creates the right content, while Hindi film producers cater to the demands of the audience. If one wants to excel in Hindi, we have to meet the demands of both the spectrums. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a perfect example of Hindi cinema maintaining this balance.

Theaters are back on track with recent releases like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Jersey, RRR and KGF: Chapter 2.

Jay Shevakaramani is gearing up for the release of Freddy with Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F. He also has Devotion of Suspect X and Undaunted Conversions.
